The Navit map for USA is like 1.8GB. If the community would like, I can start doing dvd builds that includes the map for USA. I probably won't do daily builds, but I'll build releases for both standard and USA map versions.

Is there any interest in a DVD version with map data?

Nice of you to offer, but I think people can get the maps from openstreet fairly easily -- you should spend your efforts on the basics!

I would totally go for a pre-cooked DVD version to avoid the extra hassle.

I also don't actually have any internets in my car, and that's unlikely to ever change.

Okay, I'll have a dvd version ready for beta2. It actually comes at little cost in time for me to do it. I copy a file to a folder before I build, then remove it when the build is complete. It's a simple "build-dvd" script that I'll probably create just to make it even more simple.
