LinuxICE2 9s boot! Faster than XP, Win7. [With Video]
So I thought I'd run a few benchmarks on the new Atom330 system I put together. First on a regular 7200k 160GB hdd and then a 30Gig SSD. Here are the results:
Atom330, 1GB RAM.
Software: LinuxICE2 Beta2 Full install, stock Ubuntu Kernel.
File System: Ext4
HDD: WD1600BEKT Western Digital 160GB
Boot time: 14s
SSD: OCZ Agility 30GB
Boot time: 9s
NOTE: this was a cold boot, from the start of the bootloader to login. Add about 1s for the display to load and your playing nGhost styles :D.
:laser:Windows
Attached below are the bootcharts. As you can see there is room for improvement. I plan on upgrading to 9.10 later next week and trying NilFS. I expect sub 7s boots at that point. I'll also get some hibernate resume benchmarks.
