    connect to a network server

    I have all my media on a server in my house and I am using LinuxICE to provide a media portal in my master bath. Why not something like Mythbuntu you ask... The touchscreen UI that folks that are trying to get this kind of capability in a car is waaaaaaaay ahead of those that only think in terms of nothing less the 24" of screen.

    I have been watching the maturization of LinuxICE for at least a year and i love what you are doing, from the UI to the efficient code work. This has everything from a app perspective that I need.

    Commercial over.

    By the way I saw your worklog and I was wondering when you sleep?

    Sleep? What's that? With 2 kids < 3yrs old, work and this hobby, I think I've forgotten what sleep is. Luckily, my gracious wife reminds me when it's time for bed

    Glad to hear this is useful for you. I've used it as a mini media center as well and my media server still runs an upgraded LinuxICE 1 from the Ubuntu 7.04 days...

    if you're plugged in via ethernet, it'll automatically try to acquire an address via dhcp. If it connects okay, you may want to install samba and possibly nautilus to browse your network. I usually just add a smbmount line in my /etc/fstab so it automounts my share at boot. The line on my ssytem looks like this:

    Code:
    //192.168.1.30/share    /home/kev/box-share     cifs    user=kev,pass=secretpass,uid=kev,gid=kev,rw       0       0

    Sorry Kev,
    That was a poorly constructed question (it was late). I have network connectivity via ethernet. My question was related to the shared media folders on my server. I will add samba and nautilus. How does Nghost find the music files/folders for the library? I think i remember reading something about nscan.

    I haven't had to do that in a while and the process was eluding me. I should have just asked google something so simple. Oh no, I have become one of the google impaired sheep!
