after re-installing have you re edited your /etc/init.d/usplash script?
cause if you've made that modifications it's impossible that it doesn't run cause usplash is a simple script that if started with the start command runs usplash_down (and we know it works).
so i don't know what's the problem... for me it works.
hoping it works for you too, goodbye

Sorry about all the complaining(this usplash has me aggravated...been trying to get it right for weeks now without success). I just don't like looking at scripts on boot up or shut down. I'd rather the screen be blank!

Thank also you for all your help. Since I can't get it to work as expected, how can I get it to not show any scripts at all during the boot process(don't want to see scripts when starting up or shutting down unless in recovery mode)??? Verbose is set to false, so I don't understand why I still see scripts....would rather see a blank screen until login!!!!

Have you tried reinstalling from scratch? The problem with a "restore" type functionality is that it would also undo all the "good" changes you made. I see how this can be frustrating when you want to achieve a certain level of refinement, but look at it this way: you can do 3 things to solve this: 1) keep hacking till you find a solution, 2) turn off the screen so it's blank until it's fully booted, or 3) wait and work on other refinements until I start building and testing 2.0.1 builds which I promise, I will look at the splash issue more then.

    cheers,

    cheers,

Kev...I will be happy with options 2 and 3 for now. Just looks non OEM to me in my car for scripts to be showing(unless I'm running in recovery mode). How do I turn off the screen so it is blank until fully booted??? Remove "quiet" from the loader???

I just re-installed my entire system from scratch. I'm going to see what happens with the usplash after I get my kernel re-updated(haven't enabled usplash yet). Got a bunch of stuff I got to get working again 1st, starting with my weather). Will keep you posted!
