How about the ability to change the windows border metacity theme...is it already possible? If so....How do I change?

Worklog!!!http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/fabr...l-worklog.html
Hello,
I´m new to LinuxICE (and linux as well). Installing took some time, but I managed to get it working somehow. Probably some of the hurdles may be flattened by the work already mentioned above.
What I am missing in linuxice is hands free phone support. I found some threads on this for phone support in linux, but all on developments and still no real solution.
It may not fit in your dev marathon, but I would like to hear your thoughts on it.
BTW, I had made a CarPC before in RR with my own skin. In there I had 4x4 gauges for roll and pitch using sliders. I wonder how that could be transformed in linuxice?
Please go on with this good work!
I haven't used Nghost for a few months but I am downloading a fresh linuxICE iso and will try it again. Here are the 3 things that I would like to see implemented (aside from playlist which was already mentioned):
1. Music screen - how 'bout a jump to letter function? I have a large music collection and if I want to listen to something from SYL then I have to keep scrolling all the way down. Not every letter has to be there just maybe 3 or 4 jump points (0-F, G-L, M-R, S-Z).
2. Remember where you were in the list when going back to the root. So if I scroll down to SYL and then decide I want to listen to something from Sepultura instead when I click the back button I don't have to scroll all the way down again.
3. The tracks were sorted alphabetically instead of keeping the order as they were on the CD. I think this is probably already fixed though and could have more to do with the tags on the tracks.
Maybe I can write some code as long as Kev is willing to help get me started. It's been awhile so my code-fu is probably weak at the moment.
I can definitely help you write code and get you started. Check out the wiki docs for starts.
I'm happy to say that #2 and #3 have been completed for a while now. nGhost now sorts by track number and it will remember your last list position when you leave the screen and go back.
In svn, nGhost even properly sorts by disc number and track number for multiple disc albums. And does the "right thing" with album artists for compilation albums. Thanks to samr7 for those patches! I'll push the new version to the linuxice testing repo in the next day or so.

handsfree is currently missing in LinuxICE, but we are looking into ofono and other linux-based solutions. Hopefully we will have a solution soon.
As for car pitch, with a little work that plugin can be converted to nghost. with the new graphics we are putting in as part of this effort for 4.6, it should be pretty easy to port the UI. I don't know what's involved on the backend tho.

Update:
(1) both portions of the svn project have been successfully converted to cmake
(2) nscan-qt is mostly finished at this point... I had to abandon the use of QFileSystemWatcher, as it was really designed around portability instead of usability, and as such was simply not going to be as good as straight-up inotify. Instead, I am now using QSocketNotifier wrapped around inotify so I am still at least using the qt event loop. At this point, we need to re-think how we are connecting to nghost... kev wanted to utilize dbus over a session bus... but that apparently requires an X session, which is just not a good idea. Currently looking into using a system bus instead, which is rumored to not require X.
We are currently merging the qt branch back into the main branch. This will break compilation for a while until we finish converting the db over to use qtsql.

I haven't quite got my carputer installed and eventually I want to be running a Linux system. I've only played with LinuxICE a wee bit. Nevertheless, here's some ideas I'd love to see in a system...
* Hide all the text you see when the system starts up.
* Have an option that locks the screen by tapping an icon, in case you want to disable someone from fiddling. Then you must tap in a PIN code to resume access
* Data log from an OBD I and OBD II ECM computers
* Support for Carnetix P2140 USB interface and other intelligent PSUs
* Voice recognition
* When a home wireless network is detected, allow the system to back itself up
* Be able to control USB connected relay boards for controlling anything you have in the car
* If you have a CD drive and you insert an unknown CD, you are asked if you want to rip the CD and look up the internet for CDDB info
* Be able to direct audio to different speakers, assuming your motherboard can do 5.1 audio. People who are sitting in the back could listen to something different to those sitting up front.
Should keep someone occupied.![]()
Here is a great idea. Most people will put a WiFi card in thier carpc, Why not have the contacts, calendar of google on your carpc. Think of this. You wake up in the morning, hope in your car, start it up. Hit the sync button, it connects to your wifi or public wifi and syncs your calendar, contacts. Hence this would be grand building block for the phone application. Most people have google sync on thier phones, why not be able to sync your calendar and contacts on your carpc. Have it where it does have the photos next to thier names, with phone number.
On top of the wifi card. Alot of us do the uhhh... (Tethering) that our cellphone companies say is a no no. (LOLOL!) Have it where you can tether your cellphone to the carpc.
Anyways, LinuxIce is very very nice and smooth.
VaRMiTmake it work baby!
