What exactly is the "right thing"? I haven't moved my music to the carpc yet. I wanted to make sure all my id3 tags were correct, but how do I tag my compilations and mixtapes so I dont end up with tons of artists with only a few songs?

Nghost will use the ID3v2 frame 'TPE2' as the album artist.

This frame can be set using the Mutagen mid3v2 tool:

    Code:
    mid3v2 --TPE2="Somebody" file.mp3
The Windows programs mp3tag and foobar2000 can also be used.

Easytag cannot be used to set this frame without a patch, and it looks like the Sourceforge forum where the patch had been posted was recently shut down. Boo!

In case this seems confusing and messy, it is! The ID3v2 standard does not describe an explicit "album artist" tag to fit the Artist -> Album -> Song presentation scheme used by most modern player software. The popular iTunes software has set an ad-hoc standard of using the TPE2 frame for this purpose, and Nghost follows suit.

For testing purposes, I simply used iTunes to assign artists & album artist for a single record of mine.

In the artist field I have "Big Moe feat. Lil' O" (i listen to rap). In the album artist field I have "Big Moe". It is Big Moe's album. This one track features Lil' O. Other tracks on this album simply have "Big Moe" in the artist field.

In iTunes, there is a Compilation checkbox. I left this unchecked as it is not necessarily a compilation, It is simply a featured artist on a single track.

In nGhost, I have an artist for "Big Moe" AND and artist for "Big Moe feat. Lil' O".

    Am I doing something incorrectly?
