mplayer and videos

i have an odd issue, having some issues playing videos. i changed the video directory so that my videos would show up in nghost, that was the first problem. i found that if i play a song then open up my video library, no videos are there. if i reboot and open the video library they are there but they will not play if i click on one of them. however, if i click on one of them to play, then reboot it will start the video when nghost initializes. while this video is playing, i have found out that if i close the mplayer movie window (there is also no right click for some reason) pretty much nothing else media wise will work. i have done a few things in the console, killed nghost and restarted it to see whats up with it. i found that if i kill nghost and restart it, the icepanel back button doesnt work, the others do though. this was a big problem for me trying to troubleshoot this because once i get into either music/video library i cant go to the other. so what could be causing mplayer to act funny? the console outputs something along the lines of

it just keeps repeating this right after i close the video and it wont show another one unless i kill nghost and restart it.

as you can see above, it played the first movie just fine, i closed it and it wouldnt play the second one. the movie works btw.

Don't kill the mplayer window. Killing the window will kill mplayer and the communication with nghost will break (ie the broken pipe error).

I'll try to think of a good way to "stop" the video without killing mplayer. Or even possibly being smarter and detecting that mplayer isn't running and restart it.

this is "nghost -d4" output as requested by tripzero. what i did was booted up the carpc, opened a terminal, "killall nghost", then "nghost -d4" then i opened up my video library played a movie for a few seconds, closed the mplayer window then clicked on another movie. the second movie did not play. I figured that it is because I closed mplayer and nghost cannot access it because it is closed.

so "mplayer: No such file or directory" looks suspect. Can you verify that "/home/justin/Videos/The Pacific Pt. VIII.avi" is the correct path?

yeah its the correct path. it happens with the demo thank you for smoking avi as well as if i try to reopen the file i closed.

that part is pretty much the only thing that gets me. im not sure what program is failing to load the file, either nghost or mplayer but i dont know the insides of nghost to answer that question.
