Thread: IONIdea using nGhost

The skin needs a few modifications if you do not compile it with the addon code. now that you have the skin running open up your skin folder and open the apps.xml file. in there look for the item with the name 'media_list_box' and change it to 'apps_list_box'. if you look at the 2 items above that one has a name of 'page_up' and 'page_down'. the action has 'apps_list_box' in it so this is the list box it is looking for, the skin has an error and for some reason has the name 'media_list_box' instead of 'apps_list_box'. also in the page up and page down items, after 'scrollUp' and 'scrollDown' change the 9 to an 8 because there are only 8 items in the listbox-another error. anywhere in the skin where there is a page up and page down you need to change the 9 to an 8 like in the music library and video library. if there are no apps in there run 'nscan' in the terminal to be sure it builds the database file. the file is located in your user folder under .nghost. look and see if the file is in there. if you remove the top panel you need to install something like wifi radar if you want to connect to wireless devices. without the panel the nm-applet is not really useable.

the top bar is a matchbox panel. open up your /etc/matchbox/session file and in there you need to comment out a line, i cant remember which one it is but is says something like matchbox-panel or something, i think its right after the nm-applet line.

obd2 have no idea, don't use, tripzero could probably point you in the right direction, or search the forum!

gps was simple for me, i plugged my receiver in and that was it. open navit with you receiver plugged in and see if you have green or yellow bars at the top of the screen-this means you are getting signal and everything works. but remember you have to have a map file for it to display everything. download the planet file if you want link or go to the openstreets map website and download the portion of the planet you want. the .bin file needs to go in to the /usr/share/navit/maps/ folder (the folder should already be there).

obd, you can use obdgpslogger with the ncarinfo plugin for nghost. iirc, the ncarinfo plugin is loaded by default, so all you should have to do it launch obdgpslogger with the right obddevice (/dev/ttyUSBx usually) and you are golden. also, man obdgpslogger cuz theirs lots of goodies.

But for have a xml structure, for example if I use a Dreamweaver and open the main.xml I don't see the preview of the structure for easy change the square button or link...

another example is for the RideRunnur front-end have the "skin-tool" that is possible to change the dimension and position, add button , layer etc...
with linuxice skin is possible to have???

I dont think there is a skinning tool, i edit xml files in gedit or mousepad. but i guess a skinning tool would be an excellent addon to linuxice.

sorry I don't understand this problem :

I have insert a usb pendrive with 1 file mp3, and in /home/riko/Musica I have a song mp3, but when I enter in library section the list is empty... equal result if I enter in USB, the list is empty..

In file manager I have the song and have the usb peripheral ....

try to ad more than 1 file media. when i was testing it helped out if there was more than 1 mp3/video. also check to see where the usb stick is being mounted, i think nscan will only pick it up if it is mounted under /media.

you can also edit your nghost.conf and tell it to look in other places if you mount outside of /media

Ok I try to re-install LinuxIce2 with BlackSea skin....

I modified the app.xml file because if I enter in Application section I don't visualize null...

Problem N°1 :
I modified the file Nghost.conf add this path for my usb device :

usb=/media/disk/

but when I enter in Music/USB the list is null :-( ... If I open folder I see the USB drive, and If I open the Terminal the path is "/media/disk/" ...
Why I don't see the music?

Are you inserting the drive after boot? If so, you'll have to tell nscan to rescan which you can do by restarting nghost or via some xml in the skin if you create the right "screen" for it (see /usr/share/nghost/vistique/global.xml iirc).

This may be a bug. Try putting your media in a subfolder inside music (ie music/allmymusic/*mp3)

nGhost has no concept of a "mouse over". How would you perform this gesture on a touchscreen? As for making a sound when you click a button... you can do whatever you want via the xml. To do multiple actions, you may have to create a xml script with each action as a command. For example, the button would link to musicbutton.xml which would have two commands for "mplayer click.mp3" and then link to the music page. wiki.openice.org has documentation on skinning.

It's a little bit of a hassle, but it's possible.
