Linuxice touch screen driver randomly fails to load

I've had this problem for some time and I just don't have the time to screw with the OS right now. Randomly the touch screen driver will not load. Currently I just reboot the computer since it is the quick fix. What I'm asking is if someone else has encountered this error before and if they can tell me how to solve this. I don't care if I need to blacklist a module, as long as it's not usbmouse, or write a startup script.

are you running stock linuxice or have you upgraded since (to 9.10 or 10.04)?

at any rate, the egalax drivers are trash. I recall having to turn on/off the monitor when that happens to get touch back. really annoying!!

I found this today and wonder if it'd be a useful alternative to using the closed egalax driver:

you'll have to uninstall the egalax driver (sh ./setup.sh --uninstall i think). and un-blacklist usbtouchscreen if it's been blacklisted by the egalax driver.

let me know if this works! I'm planning on trying it when I get my new carpc up and going.

How is the Meego version of linuxice coming?

I'm working with the MeeGo IVI guys to see if we can merge some of the things we've done and are doing in OpenICE with their IVI images. The initial reaction from the guys I spoke to were really positive. They are really excited about the ways OpenICE and MeeGo can help each other to make something awesome.

There's a lot of work to be done and lots of ways we as a community can help in. So if you are a coder of some sort (even javascript web/development counts), please get involved! I'm preparing some docs right now to capture what we've talked about.
