What exactly is the J3 connected to in your car?
problem solved.
Something weird is going on with the acc line. I am really surprised no rsx owners have reported this problem before, probably they used different psu's. I just added a relay in the j3 line. That is, the acc signal open/closes the relay connecting com to the ground/const +12v. Worked like a charm. My guess would be while cranking or turning it off there is a high voltage spike or negative voltage or something of the kind. The relay takes care of it. The fact that acc disconnects (and it does) while cranking is not a problem, as i mentioned, because of the autolatch. Actually if you start your car after 60s from the time you turn it on the pc would shutdown properly, but i can live with that.
Thank for all your inputs
Acc which was connected to the original stereo
lol
Again, read my post a few back...
ALL cars KILL the power going to the radio (and other components) when the starter is cranked, to prevent electrical feedback damage to the sensitive electronics...
The easiest fix for your problem would of been just to wire it to the ACC line at the ignition switch ...
Went thru 3 ******* pages of this very topic with another newb just this week! And it turned out he wired his J3 the exact same way you did...
I'm done...
Try using 'Search' and lock this thread!
lol
you don't follow me. it is still wired to acc, and still gets no power during cranking. that was NOT the problem. i have not changed anything except for cleaning up the acc signal by putting it through the relay.
No, you don't follow me...lol
The stereo ACC isn't the same as the ignition switch ACC...if it were connected here, you wouldn't need the relay...
Also, your not s'pose to be feeding it a ground signal...but a + signal. Obviously, you didn't read my posts OR the M2 manual!?
Power Input Connectors
J1 Battery + (un-switched battery, positive)
J3 Ignition (switched battery, positive. Can test by connecting it to Battery +)
J4 Battery - (negative)
Only trying to help dude...
You might be right about the grond signal, the manual does not say whether it has to be grounded or disconnected. It works fine for me but can disconnect the relay's "nc" from the ground if you want. My problem is not just shutting down during cranking, but shutting down hard when turning off. And connecting to acc at the ignition switch wouldn't fix it. plus as i said the m2 is designed to deal with this by going into autolatch mode, why would i want to run an extra cable, if i already have at my stereo connector
Maybe you don't fully understand how the M2 is s'pose work...
The M2 needs to see a steady, + signal on J3, for as long as the PC is on...once the signal is removed, the M2 sends a signal to the mainboard ON/OFF jumper switch, which turns your PC off...
BTW, what jumper setting are you using? You should be using the 'P1' setting...you should have 1 jumper on the 'A' pin...looking at the board, with the settings jumpers at the bottom left, you should have a jumper on the far left pin set...
Almost sounds like you don't have ANY jumpers on there...("Standard PSU mode")
The M2 can be very finicky...
i do use p1 but i tried all of them.
you are competely wrong about how m2 operates. the manual says it and i have confirmed on workbench, and now i have it working in my car: the first 60s it does NOT matter what you have on j3 as long as you get positive and ground on j1 and j4. after i start the car i can turn it off/on as many times as i want and the system would still boot up properly. after one minute depending on the j3 it would keep staying on or begin proper shutdown. once again, that's how it was designed to work and that's how it is working in my setup. if you look at diagram you'd realize the relay does not provide constant power it gives an exact copy of the input signal (whatever i had before) but making sure is not less than 0 and not more than +12v. it migth cutoff small spike (nanoseconds) as well.
