Just wanted to make sure I understand what you said here. Was this a separate power supply? Or did you connect your M2 to a AC source?

Did you check if j8 is outputting anything? You can try out j9 in case something's wrong with j8.

thanks for the follow up. i used the computer's ps, not the M2.just to make sure i didn't do any damage to the computer itself,
I did check the output of the J8 and didn't get any output as well as plugged into the j9 and check it with the multimeter too and didn't get any power out of any of the pins. Should there be a constant flow into any of the pins ?

but what is the amperage? that's what causes components to heat up.

I honesty don't remember if it should be a constant signal or a pulse. Maybe you can hook some LED up to it.

    I just noticed you said:

    Are you getting 12V anywhere?

J8 connects to ground when switched. You might be able to read it if you connect one pin of your multimeter to ground the other to one of the J8 pins. It should read open line (O.L.) or not connected or something until the pulse is sent. If you have a crappy/cheap meter though it may not be fast enough to register it.

And it is a pulse, not constant.

not that i can see..though..i said above in the mobo i meant in the psu. when i unplugged the atx cable to the M2..and checked the pin out on the 20 pin m2, i got a +5v in the +5 standby.

I've got +12v going into the M2 and i check at the fuse as well and there's 12v there..other than that..no no where else.
