M2-ATX issue

I've been working my way through the setup and config of my car pc and I'm having some issues with the M2-ATX power sequencing.

When running in dumb mode (P0), the pc boots fine. When I initiate the shutdown sequence using any of the jumper settings (P1,P2, etc), the shutdown sequence works correctly. The pc goes into hibernate and the hard off executes when expected.

My issue occurs when I attempt to power the PC after one of the shutdown sequences (not P0). Once I restore power to the IGN line, the motherboard led comes on and goes off after about 1-2 seconds. The power supply attempts to provide power every few seconds but the same thing happens. If I cut power completely, remove the jumper (set to P0) and restore power, everything boots just fine.

Essentially, I can only power the pc in dumb mode, but the shutdown works with any of the shutdown sequences.

Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong or what I should be looking for?

So after some more digging, I've found the cause to be my slimline USB CD/DVD drive. If I have it plugged in and attempt from any mode other than P0, the CD/DVD just makes a click sound and power is cut.

As soon as I disconnect the USB drive, the M2 can boot from any setting (P1,P2,etc). The CD/DVD drive seems to be the only USB device doing this. The system boots fine if I leave my USB GPS receiver connected.

So my M2 is fine but I don't know why the USB CD/DVD drive would be causing this. Gonna to some more digging/searching.

If anyone has any idea why this would be happening, any advice is welcome.

I'll keep this thread open as a reference for others who may experience something similar.

I don't know if this is related, but I had a USB device cause my PC to turn off after about 2 minutes. Once I disconnected it, it worked great and didn't turn itself off. I moved the device to another port and everything worked fine. Haven't had the problem since.

Interesting...i believe I've tried it with the drive plugged into various USB ports and I had the same result, but I'll give it another shot.

I'm thinking that this may be due to the USB drive needing to be individually powered, but that doesn't explain why it boots fine in dumb mode?? I'm gonna try and track down a power supply for this drive and give it a go that way?

Anyone have any other thoughts??
