M2-ATX might need to be returned. What's the process?

My other thread is just about the motherboard so I thought I'd spin the M2-ATX into this thread. What do I need to test or post here before they consider an RMA? I bought it from mp3car and received it last week. Basically it's not turning on the motherboard where my old M1-ATX is doing it fine. Do I have to pay the shipping there and back again? And duties? I got raped $34 by UPS last time, shipping it back and forth once more is going to cost $100.

I was going to message Heather about this but thought maybe others might like to know the process.

even though youre in canada, i cant imagine the shipping to be more then $25, and you only pay to send it to them. they will sent it to you on their account. i just used parcel post, cost me like $8

UPS and FedEx charge a "brokerage" fee on all shipments outside of the United States. All Canadians know this, and $34CDN is pretty minimal. I have had $60CDN brokerage fees on $15 items before. There is no way around it but to ship USPS/Canada Post which takes longer and has no tracking. By choosing UPS or FedEx, you know what you are getting into so you cant complain about the brokerage...

As for the M2, I would ask the basics. Have you tried switching polarity of the on/off cable? Are you sure you plugged it back into the same spot? (I have plugged it one pin off before, it does happen).

Is it not turning on any power so if you manually short it nothing happens either, or just the automatic part?

Don't got time to do extensive testing right now but I'll answer a few questions.
The pins on the motherboard were definitely in the right spot, I've put them on/off about 100 times in the past plus I downloaded the manual and checked which ones. Plus I shorted them with a screwdriver and it worked fine. And the last plus is I hooked up the M1-ATX to the same pins and that worked fine. So swapping out the M2-ATX for the M1-ATX erases all problems. Seems like a no brainer.

did you try hooking up i button to the extra set of pins to see if that powered on the mobo?

on the m2 there are 2 pins that can be connected to a standard atx style power button. They override the timer settings. If they work but the timer on/off dont work it says there's something wrong with the programming on the m2

Okay so I talked to the guys at mp3car about an RMA and he asked me to do some troubleshooting first. I had already done it all but I figured if he's going to be nice enough to take it back then I'll be nice enough to do what he asks. One of the things he asked me was, "Are you using the P1 jumper configuration settings?"

For anyone that's not familiar with the M2-ATX (or M1-ATX), there's a spot (J10) where you can specify how the power supply works, like different modes. There are 4 different spots for jumpers in this area, and depending on where the jumper(s) are, it'll determine how the power supply functions. When I received my M2-ATX it had no jumper in this area, it was empty. I checked the manual to be sure this is right and found this:

So yup, looks right to me. No jumpers on A, B, C nor D put it into P0 mode which is "standard PSU mode" according to the chart. So when the mp3car team asked me if I was using P1 I got confused. So I stole the jumper from my M1-ATX, popped it on the M2-ATX putting it into P1, tried it again and it worked perfectly.

So for anyone that receives any of these in the future and they're getting the same symptoms, make sure it got shipped with a jumper on it. I'm impressed they were able to diagnose the issue so quickly but not so impressed that I now have to try and hunt down a jumper somewhere because I have to give my M1-ATX back to the guy I originally sold it to in working condition. It was likely Mini-Box's fault for missing that in assembly, I'm not pointing fingers but hopefully this thread helps someone else in the future. I'm just glad I got it working.

Not true, with UPS you can mark the item as a return and there will be no brokerage. Canada Post has tracking and insurance, you just have to pay more for it. I find that Canada Post is usually the cheapest way to ship something to the US.

Spoke too soon, I put it into the car and now it's not turning on the amplifiers. I put a voltmeter on the J6 pins on the M2-ATX and got nothing. There's no signal coming out of it to turn the amps on. Suggestions?
