This is funny. I was trying to help duh!
Well there is helping in a useful and constructive manner and then there is helping in an arrogant, childish, sarcastic and rude manner. I'm sure people are glad you are willing to help, it's just the manner in which you speak to them. Even I couldn't believe how rude you sounded. I wouldn't have banned you, but the thought crossed my mind.

No I dont think it would have been unless you bought it direct from minibox, even then I doubt it.

You also checked the ram? (Just making sure)
How do you test RAM? I don't have another one to put in there...

there are memory testing programs available, but usually run in DOS so without a floppy drive (i can't see many CarPC's having these) you might be up the creek. I don't know of any good ones off the top of my head, but my co-worker does and I can ask him tomorrow as he is out sick.

I'm not sure how to test it, if you don't have another PC to put it in or another chunk of ram.

But try taking out the ram, and see what happens when you try to boot it, many mobo's will beep when no ram is installed.

I actually just took my old CarPC out and it has two chunks of 256MB of PC133. One was Crucial, and the other Kingston. After bringing it into my house, and trying to install Windows 2003 server on it, it kept erroring, so I took the Kingston chip out and it worked. But I didn't test the Kingston Memory yet. It actaully could have been seated loose. But I did cheack the Kingston RMA site and I got lifetime on it, so I'll get around to it and maybe RMA it.

    Thumbs up Works at last

At last after 7 weeks of poking meters here there and every where, testing this that and the next thing I finally have my carpc up and running on 12VDC The solution was simple in the end. I went out and bought an Opus 150 pluged it in and instant boot up. No messing no drama it does what it says on the box.
Damn shame really because on paper the M2ATX is a better power supply. It has better shutdown controles and better still it has hard off so I will need to do a bit of modifiction to the opus so it will do hard off. Oh the other thing with the Opus is that its completely over priced and umm a wee bit bigger than the M2 but that isn't so much a problem for me.
Anybody else who gets the revised M2 board please still post and let us know how you got on whether its good or bad news.

I am having a similar problem... I am curious whether the people having problems are using boards which require a stable +12V, since all the VIA boards mostly do not need a stable +12V to boot. It could be that the SP13000 does use the 12V line. I am using a single board computer that has on-board voltage regulation so I just need the +12V not the 5V & 3.3V. I did look at the PIC code and it seems that the "turn on" pulse is being sent before the +12V line fully powers up, this may explain what is happening. Other people having similar problems please post so that we can find a fix which could be as simple as an alteration in the PIC code, it would be a shame to have to throw away a really good supply because of this...

so far as I know the only thing the SP13000 uses 12v for is the cooling fan.
