    Complete Mac System

I'm currently sorting out my mac in my car with a few questions unknown,

    1. Can I plug my car audio speakers directly to the mac ? (I don't mind the slow startup compared to normal car system)

    2. Can i received radio on my mac ?

    3. If i can receive radio, could I modifed to digital radio ? (My country do have digital radio but only compatible with REVO)

    Thanks a lot

    1. No, you'll need an amp.

    2. No, the Mac can't receive radio signals. The best solution is the HQCT - you can find it at the mp3car.com store. It's pretty popular here.

    3. Don't think so - but I'll leave that for someone else to answer. There are some solutions for digital radio available - I think.

    1) No. You need an AMP or to keep a HeadUnit that takes an AUX input (and then you connect the Mini to that).

    2) Yes. Griffen has the RadioShark (?) that lets you get AM/FM reception. People seem to have mixed results. I don't know if there are options or not.

    3) I assume you are talking about HD-Radio? If so, there is nothing that I know of. If you are talking about XM/Sirius, there are adapters that work but I don't know anything about them.

If you have a wide area wireless connection (cellular), you can stream low bandwidth iTunes radio stations. It's works OK, and it buffers fairly well most of the time.

But it sounds very rough compared to MP3/CD/AAC etc.

I'm driving a 2006 Honda Civic. My HU is built in, but I got the cover for the 2 DIN. If I were to use 1 DIN for the HU then the other for Mac mini. I got no space to keep my 7" LCD screen as I don't want to show permanently on my dash board. I prefer the retractable LCD which comes in 1 DIN.

    Can anyone help me ?

    Thanks

Im not too familiar with the 06 Civic's interior, but the MacMini doesnt need to be in the dash. Glove box, under the seat, and in the trunk are just a few options. Then you can have the stock HU in one DIN (although if your already in there you might as well replace the HU as well) and a retracting screen in the other DIN.

Fongsama - i can help you - put the mini somewhere else or plan on building outward. There is barely enough room for an actual 2-din radio to squeeze in there with all the wires behind it... unless you're the grandmaster of finding/making tiny connectors, i think you'll struggle with getting the mini to sit in the dash the way you want it to. If you must have the DVD drive available to you, i'd recommend stowing the mini away somewhere else and using an external drive, that way you only need 7-8 conductors tops and you can plug/solder that in pretty easily.

Which model civic do you have? DX, LX, EX, Si?
    Et ipsa scientia potestas est.

Worklog for my 2007 Civic Si ...f*** it...

I'm driving a Si Sedan, I do need to slot CD/DVDs, so need to put at the dashboard. Need to put in the retractable screen plus need to put the HU, unless there is one 1 DIN LCD screen with radio built in.
