how did i croosspost, your dumb website made me post in the newbie section sonce i'm new but i needed info from this forum sice it about a mac. Get over yourself you kook your name says it all get a life....
As to your top post, the only question I see is "how much music will fit on my harddrive". Well a blanket statement is useless. You ever hear of bitrate? It basically is the ratio of size taken up to time of music. So 128kbps is 128 kilobytes for every 1 second of music. But you could record it in 32kbps if you wanted. Or maybe even 512kbps. Obviously you can fit more with a lower bitrate, but it starts to sound like FM radio, then AM radio, then just crap.
So it is not so hard to figure out.
And dont crosspost. And dont get bitter. Especially with a mod.

Sorry. I couldn't resist
As 2k1 points out, it all comes down to the format, bitrate, and length of song. I ripped all my music as 192kps mp3s which comes to just shy of 30GB for 5107 songs.
Sorry didn't mean to come off bitter just confused cause the site made m d it but heres what i got.Would you suggest a sound card for hat i want and have.
lilliput touchscreen mon.
this stuff is already installed 4 jl xr door speakers component. 1 fosgate shallow sub with 300 watt amp plus a 200X4 going to the doors and i want my mini to power this due to removing my head unit.....Should i use a soundcard. Im currently using a Alpine ipod headunit (that newer one thats made soley for ipod) and it sounds ok. Anymore help would be cool thanks and sorry agian
there are absolutely NO restrictions on where a newbie can post.
The amount of video and music you can fit on the 60 gig drive is completely dependant on how many other things you have installed on the drive and how much or little compression you use for the video and audio files.
No one can tell you how good the sound is because we can't hear it in the car.
You will be the only one that can tell us.
It will all depend on your audio system and how you have it hooked up to that audio system.
You need to do a bit more of your own research to answer your own question about if you need a sound card or not. You need to figure out how you're going to go from your computer to the audio in your car. We're not going to figure that out for you.
Use the search, read the FAQ, and read the work logs of other users who have used a MacMini...
Ok, I have my lilliput monitor hooked up to my mini (looks nice) but o touchscreen function. I saw the post down but i'm not to quick when it come to comps. My question is do i need to download this link to my mini
http://www.lilliput.cn/driver/Mac_OSX(intel_CPU).zip and i was curious since i only want music and videos for now how and where do i get AMP, I've look in the thread but can't find it. It directs me to some shopping site. Any help would be great, i'm getting excited on this install.
Will the Alpine HU stay and the Mini audio run through it? If so, then you probably don't need a sound card.
Are you going to run the Mini directly to the Amps for your speakers? If so, do you need more than left/right balance control? If not, then you don't need a sound card. If so, then you need a sound card.
Is there some function (timing, fade/balance, surround, etc..) on a specific sound card you really want/need? Then yes you need the sound card.
I would advise you start without it and see how well it works and if you are happy first.
If AMP isn't in the AMP sub-forum, then I don't know where it is. You might post in that sub-forum and as if someone can provide you with a working link.
