I suppose that may be true. Ok, no patcher. However, I would like to point out that MP3Car already hosts tons ok "illegal" iG patchers for graphics mods and the nav by long/lat mod (in fact, some skins just include a modded exe rather than a patcher, which is definitely not legal).

I am in no way a lawyer, just making sure you are aware of what you could get yourself into (even though I highly disagree with the implementation of DMCA and DRM (you shouldn't be able to just give away someone else's work, but if you've paid for you should be able to use it in the manner you choose)).

I don't know about those other patches, but if they do not work around the license restrictions then they *should* (again, IANAL) be ok. And I do know mp3car has banned a few people for posting info/tools to crack some software.

It's true, no posting about warez. Let's get back on topic or I'll have to lock the thread. Meanwhile, I'll post up to the admins and ask them to check the files in the download.

    Hey guys,
I know it would be possible to run a front end like Roadrunner through VMWare, but how do you think it would function? Assuming I can get iGuidance to work with one of the methods above(which, btw, have any of you?) Basically, I want the sleep/wake times of OSX, but the front ends for Windows seem to be leaps and bounds ahead of any of the Mac ones...Whatya think?

If you read the details of the thread above, you will note that VMware has issues to be resolved when running iGuidance. Granted parallels is not quite as efficient as VMware, but the newest version runs pretty well for far more resource-hogging apps such as Adobe CS3. It does appear that mac interfaces are behind for the time being, but will be more mature not too long from now. Qcar is esthetically minimalistic (just a matter of differences in taste) but has the most functions developed; a good FE. CarFrontEnd has potenial in the near future due to how much easier it will be to develop plugins for. Until CFE matures, I am personally planning on running AMP 2.0 (aka kindling) and due to my very, very, very, limited programming ability will try bootleg the extra apps I need from OSX into dashboard widgets... only running iGuidance on the "fake pc" in parallels. That's all hypothetically of course until all the s### I can't afford and just bought comes in the mail...
iamgnat is superquick on the responses and very nice to us newbies, maybe ask him for a recommendation based on the specifics you need...

Standby in Windows XP is as quick as sleep in MacOS. So you could do the bootcamp option if VMWare or Parallels don't give you the functionality you need.

Roadrunner will work well no matter what route you go.

The way I understand it, putting a Mac to sleep is like hibernating a PC, it saves the current system state to RAM and shuts off all power, except that waking is a lot faster in OSX than Windows - 5 seconds compared to 15-30 seconds. Standby saves the current state also, but keeps the system running, albeit with minimal power, but this will still drain the battery overnight...
EDIT: OK, I just read that sleep is equivalent to putting Windows in Standby. Anyone know how much power the Minis use? I suppose I can set the Carnetix PS/regulator to shut it down when it gets to a certain point though...As long as I don't have to full on reboot every day...

My newest idea, is to run everything out of VMWare, but just always put the Mac to sleep, which gets around having to boot, load VMWare and everything in Windows, etc. because sleep will keep everything committed to memory. I'm not sure how realistic of an idea this is yet either...I'll have to try it out. I also don't know if OSX will be able to read files on the Windows partition and vice versa. I think I need to do a whole new post about my ideas...haha :P

If you plan to use VMware and want to run iGuidance you will have to install windows in bootcamp and then do the iGuidance install in bootcamp. Then you can use the bootcamp partition with VMware. This effectively, and legally bypasses the iGuidance VMware check in the install process.

Or install it under parallels and convert parallels over to VMWare.

Yeah, I plan on installing Windows via Bootcamp and then using VMWare. I have a feeling I'm just going to end up running Windows. However, I have been playing around a bit in OSX on my Mini in the meantime and may end buying a Mac for my home computer when all is said and done
