Thread: Mac Mini with Clarion N I C E 7"?

Just joined here even though I've been lurking for a while. Has anyone attempted to use a Mac Mini with the Clarion N.I.C.E.? I thought this may be a good compromise for me as the Nav on the Clarion is sufficient for me and the Front Row front end would also work for what I want to do.

It looks like there are video adapters for dvi or vga to composite video(input into the N I C E ).

I was planning on installing in an 2008 Nissan Titan LE with the Rockford Fosgate system. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

the only thing with not using a vga monitor is your resolution will be lower. will make reading text harder. However if you are just going to use front row shouldnt be hard. How are you going to control the computer?

I was going to use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard or trackball. Maybe a Griffin Powermate or a combo of a devices.Do you think the 800 x 480 display of the Clarion will look lousy with a DVD?

I ordered the Nav Bezel for the Titan today and the Clarion is also on it's way. I figured with the Carnetix power supply and cable for Mac Mini it may be a good start for a first timer in ease of installation and setup.

i think that DVDS will look okay because they will be run on their normal resolution.

Should work fine. I'm controlling Front Row with a Powermate and it is sweet.

If you only run FR, you should be fine.

I have my Mac Mini and Clarion Nice and have a couple of questions . How do I determine what settings are needed for the Clarion ? WHen I hooked it up the video came in and out. I bought DisplayConfigX and tried to use the Lilliput settings as a starting point . I got alot of flickering and high pitched whine from the monitor on various resolution settings settings and then when I used the 800 x 480 setting the screen went blank . I don't think the Clarion Nice has been used yet with a Mac Mini , so I may be in unchartered waters. I know the native resolution is 800x480 but haven't been able to get any other info. Any Ideas?

The Carnetix 1900 came yesterday , so I'd like to get started , but only after it works on my desk. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!

Also, I'm using the DVI out to composite video plug from Apple if that makes a difference. The Clarion has a 2.5 mm to composite A/V plug .

Where did you order the factory nav bezel from? I need to pick one up for my Titan.
