Try deleting the prefs file (.plist in Library->Preferences), maybe it has gotten corrupted.
RoadNav has been constantly freezing on me for some reason lately. A good example is when I try and change the preferences. The beach ball just spins forever and when I try and force quit the roadnav screen goes away but it stays in the dock and is still running somehow; I try to delete it and it says its still running. I try and repeatedly force quit but it doesn't do anything, I try and restart and it just gets stuck in the process and I have to end up holding down the power button. Any one have similar problems, suggestions?
Also, I've tried kill, killall etc in terminal and that doesn't do anything either.
I have also done that multiple times, and I tried repairing disk permissions; same results.
try opening the console application and see what it outputs at the time of the lockup
i just tried it, the pinwheel has been spinning for awhile now. It didnt output anything to console though.
when I try and kill it I get this though:
3/18/08 11:27:23 AM com.apple.launchd ([0x0-0x6b06b].Roadnav) Did not die after sending SIGKILL 705 seconds ago...
it seems like its every time I change something in preferences. It hasn't always done this either, when I first downloaded and installed it it was fine, then it started doing this for some reason.
have you tried simply editing the prefs manually? you can grab apples property list editor of the os install cd and use it to edit any applications pref file
no i didnt try that, but it didnt use to do it is all. I've tried both .20alpha and the stable .19, they both do it now and never did before. I tried reseting the pram and nvram so I will see if it did anything.
