Thread: mac front end and installation ideas?

I only listen to the radio when forced. It's been years since I listened to commercial radio. First iPod, now carputer. I love 20GB music libraries.

Anyone use iTunes as their "frontend"? Not the world's greatest solution, but for pure tunage, it works for me. I have an AppleScript that, on startup, starts up iTunes and places it in fullscreen CoverFlow mode. It's a minor pain to change playlists, though (but I don't do this often anyway). If only we could make those tiny buttons large!

Why don't you use Front Row? It does all of that automatically.

I downgraded my Mac Mini to Tiger so I could use the FR Remote app, but I couldn't get it to work properly, so I went back to Leopard. Is there another way to do it sans the Apple Remote? I think I would have preferred FR if I had gotten the FR Remote to work.

I use a powermate and have mapped it to the keystrokes. Works great.

I know i sound like I work for this company because i mention it everytime someone asks about controlling stuff, but Remote Buddy is awesome software. The menus already implemented in it for iTunes is great. I use a Wii remote with it and have no need for a touchscreen.

Very cool idea on using the wii remote! What happens when you are not using the remote? lol. i can just imagine when you go around a corner and it does something wacky :-)
