Need a little help with software

Let me just start by saying I'm a mac guy.

I love macs, especially how clean the interface is, which is why I got a mac mini to put into my 98 honda accord.

I have my touchscreen monitor already mounted in my double din slot, just need to mount the mini in the glovebox. That's not my problem though.

Is it just me, or is all the front end software available extremely complicated and/ or cluttered looking?

I'm not opposed to using boot camp and a windows front end if I have to...but I have NOT been able to find anything that fits my needs.

Basically all I'm looking for is a simple screen to control my music (itunes would be great), movies, and GPS. I don't need all of that other ridiculous crap...at least not yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where I should look for something like this? I like Neon Boombox as a Mac frontend, but it lacks GPS capabilities.

Have you taken a look at the frontends at the top of the forum? Also, have you looked at the sticky with the mac links in it? If so, which programs did you not like and which is closest to your ideal?

Many people use FrontRow for its simple interface, particularly when paired with a device such as a Powermate, which makes it easy to navigate without having to take your eyes off of the road.

There are few options for Mac GPS, (RouteBuddy and Roadnav) but you can run Windows GPS programs using Parallels.

Thanks for the reply bugbyte, I should have been a little more clear I guess...haha

I looked through just about every possible front end mentioned on this forum, windows and os x.

I have neon boombox right now, which I like because of it's simplicity. I just wish I knew more about coding so that I could add some of my own flavor to it such as custom backgrounds and all that.

I have VMWare Fusion, so I can run windows at the same time on my mac. I also have iGuidance, which I like. That's why I almost decided on just using windows for a front end so that I could have everything in one place.

I was messing with road runner for a little while, and the config program for it just has way to many dang options. Also, when I click on certain things, the program freezes... (Oh, gotta love windows).

So I guess road runner is closest to what I would want, possibly with a skin I could make myself to only use the features I mentioned above. I'm just having a heck of a time with the configuration being lame, as well as the app just freezing for no reason almost all the time.

I believe since you're still new a moderator needs to approve your posts.

I wouldn't necessarily blame your issues on windows. Roadrunner did not play nice for me in VMWare Fusion at times. Especially coming back from sleep and safe sleep. Since I went to a bootcamp windows load it works much better for me.
