If the goal is widespread adoption of car computers and their front ends, say by a variety of auto makers, then this holy grail is very important.

If it is always to be a DIY hobby then an appliance that just works is nice!

Everything is impossible until someone does it ;-) With that being said, I have 0 lines of code written to prove or disprove my assertions. I am sure QCar has a few more lines of code than that by now, so bravo to those that do over those that talk about doing.

Maybe sometime in the future I can get the project started and see how well it does or doesn't do. I am sure we could both learn a lot in any such event!

    Hello!

It's been a very long time since I've posted on here. over 5 years in fact. I've been off the scene for that long but my new car arrives this week and I'm looking to get back into carpc's.

So I see there's some interest in Velocity and I'm more than happy to open the source. I think it's some what dated now. Having worked all over the place as a consultant and knowing what I know now, I would probably use some very different solutions to the problems that Velocity tried to solve.

Ultimately, Velocity was a proxy to OS functions. There's an OS that's being built that way now and it's called ChromeOS from Google. Not 100% like Velocity but lots of lessons to be learnt there.

Unfortunately I've got another project I'm doing these days and that's aimed at making me some money (hopefully). So as much as I would love to rewrite Velocity using some new tech, I've not the time to do it. I'm more than happy to offer advice to anyone that does.
