ICE3 is the primary front end in crrent development. NASAIR is being updated on occassion as well.

yes you will be able to sync your phone and use it to tehter easily enough if you jailbreak your phone. There are severl VNC programs on the App Store or Cydia to control parts of the PC

There is no GPS software for the mac that is reliable enough to use like roadrunner

If you need it to work like road runner you might want to stick with Road Runner because there is nothing even consierably close to it for OSX.

I would recomend the mac mini, I had one in my car and the all inclusive and small foot print is great. The new one has enough on board USB ports to power almost everything with no hubs. The laptop that you have should work fine, I think that ICE3 is able to run on non intel machines.

2. For GPS, use a Windows based GPS program and run it in either Parallels or Fusion. You can use spaces to switch between the two. Also, NASAir by Natedawgg has a neat solution for making the windows version appear embedded in the front end. There's some discussion on that here.

Can you run Parrallels or Fusion if the system is not intel? If you use your laptop that has G4 processor I dont think that you would be able to use them.

i will check out that jailbreak idea for tehter. if i jailbreak the phone will i loose features or possibly mess with my OS integrity?

jailbreaking your iphone shouldn't have any adverse affects on your iphone. and you will do nothing but gain functionality. there is always there rare chance that something could go wrong, but chances are very good that it won't. i have been running my jailbroken iphone for over a year now (both on old edge iphone, and now 3g iphone) with absolutely no problems whatsoever. in the event you need service on your iphone or run into some compatibility issue with it, you can always just do a restore in itunes and it will set it back to a factory state.

at the risk of starting to sound preachy, i prefer virtualbox. there is nothing wrong with parrallels or fusion ( i use fusion at work) but virtualbox is free plain and simple. for me that makes it leaps and bounds better than the other two. it works just as well and handles windows/gps solution great in the car.

Also, NASAir by Natedawgg has a neat solution for making the windows version appear embedded in the front end. There's some discussion on that here.
