Powermate & OS X Hibernation Issues

Ok so in order to save my car battery, i have switched my mini to go from "safe sleep" to "deep sleep"(for those who do not know "safe sleep" is what macs default to and "deep sleep" is basically the same as Windows hibernation mode). So now every time i start my car and my mini awakes from "deep sleep" i loose all input from the powermate while all other USB devices are reconnected just fine (GPS, touchkit, iphone, etc). Does anybody have any ideas for solutions or workarounds to this issue. By the way i am running OS X 10.6.1

do you use an external powered USB hub? If yes, what do you have connected to it?
