like the vocal directions idea

its not horrible. it is just not very complete. I know some of the guys over in linux land are using in there front ends. It just is not nearly as polished as some of the windows offerings. It def is not bad for free though that is for sure. Download it try it and find out how well it works for you

roadnav hasn't had an update in 3 years. I don't know anyone on the Linux end who uses it.

... also keep in mind it uses free map data, and the quality of the map data and routing may not be as good as navigation products based on maps licensed from Navteq.

wait i thought you had roadnav built into linuxICE. Am i thinking of something else? is there another opensource gps solution?

I think they use Navit.
