    that would definitely do it:-P

I just got an iBook off ebay. been watching the prices, and got it for a good deal on a 14" 1.33 GHz with Bluetooth and Wi-fi. However, no PC Card slot. I may after development picks up buy a 500mhz Powerbook for the car and use the iBook for development. Probably not running the latest OS X though:

oops. I just realized that you shouldve picked up a used TiBook. Even at 500 mhz, a G4 is still gonna be good enough for most things.

TiBook, do you mean a Titanium PowerBook? Powerbooks are the only apple laptops with the PC Card slot. Apple memory is still pretty damn cheap compared to some PC laptops.

Not a bad deal -- saved about $150 over the edu. discount inc. on the same machine with aftermarket memory -- they hold their value pretty well compared to a lot of other computers, huh?

Out of curiosity, why are you gunning for the PC card slot? I have one on the powerbook and haven't really ever seen much occasion to use it. I have put a second wireless card in there to do sniffing stuff from time to time with kismac as it doesnt work that well with the (broadcom) Airport Extreme, but there are plenty of USB devices that work with kismac too .. i just happened to have an extra pc card one handy..

He's got a verizon wireless cdma PC card w/ unlimited internet access on it. Too bad theres no EV-DO in his area, if there was he could be doing 300 kbps down. Its only in NYC metro area (i'm right outside it and sadly I don't get it), so he probably doesnt have it (yet). Itll show up in phones with blueooth soon anyways.

I was very surprised how expensive some of the Apple equipment has held its value. I really wanted to put the CDMA pc card in the car, but it will have to wait till later. The whole Baltimore area is lit up for EV-DO, btw.

I was also surprised that some 300mhz G4 were running OS X also. I guess the RAM helps these machines run?

So long as you take out the motherboard, there is a connector there that, once soldered correctly, will give you a vga-out signal. Just dont kill yourself taking it out...
