Mac OS 7

hey I just got a Mac Powerbook 1400cs for $25 but it did not come with any disks nor os (comes up with the ? disk thing) I know you can download for free from www.apple.com OS 7 BUT it does not work something about activator or something does anyone know where I can download or buy the right ver that will work on this lapy? I want to use it as a carpc if I can get it to run.

err.... I would actually try running linux on that thing. Old-school OSs like System 7 have a tendancy to be somewhat unstable at times so why not just go with reliable, speedy (relatively) linux. Google around and youll find that its a somewhat complex task, but it works fine.

or better yet, get OS X off ebay.

if you don't want to spend $$, then you will either have to go the OS 7 route or the linux route to a distro that supports PowerPC processors. this page should help you out:

Can a Mac Powerbook 1400cs even run OSX? I think the CPU in that is rated at no greater than 166MHz. I think the best way to go is to DL a Linux Distro that supports the PowerPC 603e.

OSX will not run the highest that will run on it is 9.3 I would go Linux but every cd I made so far does not work. is there a specal way of burning it and setting it up? I have all windows pc's here save a old mac II wich does not work. can some one show me a link to info on this, I much rather have MAc os for my other lappy as linux.
