    XM + MP3 -> Amp....how?

    If I were to want to listen to Max XM and then switch to listening to my MP3 collection, how would I switch the audio in/out of the Mac mini that is fed to my audio amp? In the PC world I run my XMPCR into my PC (line input) and combine it with my internal MP3 player using the audio mixer in side the PC. Is there an equivalent way to do this in the Mac world? Or do I need some sort of external USB/Firewire conected gizmo?

    Griffin iMic. $39, USB. Don't worry, it's not a mini thing. My $2500 dual 1ghz Powermac didn't come with an audio input. Welcome to Macworld where everything's great all the way up until it's not.

    Audigy2/NX works with Mac mini!!

    You experienced Mac guys may have already known this, but since I already had an Audigy2/NX laying around I thought I would give it a try with the Mac mini. Low and behold it works! The Mac recognizes it as a USB audio device and provides basic controls in the Sound manager in System Preferences. I can even connect the Audigy thru a cheap USB hub (apparently the Griffin iMic needs it's $40 Auido USB hub to work, unless it is connected directly to the Mac USB port). Sound it great and both now have independent audio volume controls (ie mixer). The only downside is that Apps writtien for the Audigy aren't compatible with the Mac OS.

    That's okay Mike. Another week or two with the Mac and your transition to the dark side will be complete. It won't matter to you whether or not some "PC" app runs on the Mac. The knowledge that you have now finally found the one true path will sustain you through software droughts and system crashes.

    Next stop...Macworld. Although actually, that would be a great place for Carnetix to exhibit it's P1900!

    Welcome to the dark side.
