why not get the motorized screen from www.mp3car.com/store ?
$450 and its motorized and all....
Alright Guys, I need your help on this one. I am building a Ferrari 355 kit and am looking to install the mini mac into it. It will be a convertible so I am trying to not have the thing look to obvisous as to have a steal me sign, since the car will surly get enough attention on its own. I am trying to get a list of everything I need to buy in line as I don’t start the project and go oh ****!!! I want the install to appear as close as possible to an OEM install, I do plan on using the pull out screen that fits in a single din, again trying to not make the sterio draw even more attention. I plan on using the CNX-P1900 so the computer will go into sleep or shut down when the cars ignition is turned off/on. My FM I am planning on using Radioshark, unless I am told there is something better. For the GPS and Navigation I know there is no true winners yet so I will hold off on this for now. I will be using a Lilliput touch screen to control all operations. So this is the list of things I must buy. Please add your input into what you like or don’t. If there is anything I can/should add to make this look more factory please add your input. I think I want to stick to mac because though I am a PC guy the only computer that is always running is a mac I have. Alright on to the list:
Mini Mac-being installed into glove box
Lilliput screen
In Dash Manual Housing - feel free to name any other fav other then the WW one
CNX-P1900
Y Cable Power Supply Thingie
GPS- ????
Frontend- ????
Also, I am toying with the idea of adding a slot loaded external dvd drive so it can act as my CD/DVD player. Currently also not sure about XM. Again I want this system to easy enough for some stranger to hop into the car and pull out the screen and use. Thanks for your help guys!!!

Thought about going this route but was not sure if it will work with Tiger or not. So figured I would just wait and see if anyone post there experance using it.
Where are you getting the kit from? what's your chassis? i'm just curious...
I really dont think you'd have to worry about someone stealing a carputer out of a what-they-think-is a Ferrari...but yeah, maybe even an alpine flip-out-and-up if you really want to be low profile.
You'll need a usb hub!
Why not just fab the monitor into the dash if your making it from a kit anyway!
It wont attract any more attention than the car itself. Put an alarm in that bad girl for christ's sake!
Carputer status: [-*---------]
Im thinking laptop...
