its an advantage because a monopoly controls your system specs and leaves little to no room for hardware improvements?

He is trying to say that the reason there are not many viruses for MacOS is not that it's secure or bug-free (although with FreeBSD backbone it's better be), and not that the market is marginally small (although it is), but rather that virus writers are afraid of screwing up the Holy Wood junkmill (the hell they are). MDLarson, not meaning to threadjack but already threadjacking... I just spent the last 2 minutes at your website reading about your fight with ol33l... you definitely are a noob that didnt get with the pace really... You should really read more about the attitudes of people, their humor, the way they take things etc on this forum before picking a fight like that.... just honest advice...

and about going out of your way becuase you are put on someone's ignore list and making a freaking website about it??? how old are you??? younger than ol33l??? thanks for the laugh though! hahaha

Gates is just overconfident. MS is attacking on multiple fronts...when a company does that, it tends to loose site of what each arm is doing from the other.

I think they should give Microsoft Bob another try...wasn't that suppose to change the world?

Hmm, did you ever consider the fact that it was MS bailing ITSELF out? The amount of money invested was not so great as to help out Apple financially (at least the official amount, $150 million). The deal also involved extending the life of MS Office for Mac as well as a collaboration on more software projects. Considering that Justice Department was on Microsoft's *** at the time, it was rather obvious that MS wanted to send a message of being a "fair" competitor, not the kind that destroys whoever is in the way (netscape comes to mind).

Still, one comment that got my attention was that iPod will lose out to cell phones, which echoes Nokia's statement just recently. Either way, I think it would be silly to assume that Apple will just sit on iPods and not try to move into anything else. I've posted a thread about that somewhere around here, but it seems that Apple wants to achieve what MS could not in the past 8 years, and that's a complete home/car computer/entertainment system. Will see how that works out.

I'm only a noob to this site and the people here. Are you saying I should have looked up this guy's previous posts and tried to extrapolate his intended meaning from that? C'mon, the guy's original post was completely unhelpful, and (I felt) needed to be reprimanded / corrected. Many Mac users like me are used to people throwing ignorant arguments at you, but admitedly I am personally pretty sensitive about it.

Anyway, the page only took about an hour to put up, and yes, it is out of spite that I did it. But I think this jerk needed to be exposed / humbled a little, and in the end I showed more class than he did, so the link's still in my signature. Plus, if you look at my public website stats, then select Popular Pages from the left, you'll see that that page is quite popular.

If people find it interesting / humourous, great.
