I think you should upgrade any future p1900 produced to have this feature(if they are even still in production at all), and charge accordingly. Of course people would buy it over the previous model. I would.
I have yet to buy my p1900, so hurry so I can get the upgraded one!

Im thinking laptop...
Hmm...not quite following you. So your laptop needs +12V, why would you need a +12V USB hub? Most of them are +5V hubs, which the P1290 can provide.
I was planning on using just a straight DC to DC laptop adapter and then hooking a USB hub to an accessory line. Problem is that the accessory line is an unregulated 12v, and there are no USB hubs made for 12V...all I have seen is 5v:-)
that's because usb devices are 5v ... so in order for a hub to be 12v it'd have to step down the power to 5v for the devices. just an extra step the hub doesn't need to take that would make it more expensive.

I'd be interested in it standalone... I can hook this up anywhere in my car right? doesnt need to be connected to the carnetix or another psu...
I'd just like to use this for powering my slotload dvd in the front, for example...
How long would TTM be?
Yes, the P5V could be used as a POL (point of load) regulator. It is currently controlled by the DLYON signal from the P1900. However, you could either tie this control line permanently high (always ON) or run your ACC or IGN line to it (+12V=ON, 0V=OFF). You'd also have to cut off the header connectors which are made to plug into the P1900 headers and tie these into your +12V source.I can hook this up anywhere in my car right? doesnt need to be connected to the carnetix or another psu...
No problem. Also, the Audigy 2NX takes quite a bit of +5V juice.I'd just like to use this for powering my slotload dvd in the front, for example...
TTM=Time To Market? Waiting for feedback from my assembler, but I'm guessing about 4 wks.How long would TTM be?
Interested in this for my brother's planned mac mini install... not started yet but looking forward to it.
What is the status of this cool add on?
The P5V is in transit and should arrive early this week.
