    News: Apple buying TiVo?

    http://www.appleinsider.com/news.php?id=907

That would be an interesting prospect for apple. Perhaps they will create an all out media center for OS X. Never the less I do see a downside to this if Apple did buy TiVo, but I would like to hear what everyone else has to say.

This rumor came out a while back. It sent Tivo's stock soaring like 60% in a day. Then the next day when Apple flatly said they had no interest, it dropped back down. Would be cool, but Tivo is dangerously close to being commoditized.

Mostly true, though it's up 18% today and has signed a deal with Comcast to offer tivo service to customers. Tivo will be around for a while.

The "Feb 23 - 4:00 pm EST" in the first line of the article should have tipped you off...
