Rikaline 6010 Mac OSX 10.3.8 and Route 66

This combo isn't exactly working out for me at the moment. I have all of the above, but am having driver/route 66 trouble.

I cannot get route 66 to recognize the GPS. It keeps telling me that it cannot detect the gps receiver.

This is strange to me because of alot of reasons.
1. I have installed all of the same software I installed on my other mac running OS X 10.2.8. My mac running this version of OSX detects the receiver, but I cannot tell wether its working, cause it is in a basement w/ no window... funny.

2. I have run the installer several times and am getting no signal from the computer saying if or if not the GPS receiver is being detected.

3. The strange thing is, the receiver blinks green when the mini/car is turned off. The receiver is solid when the mini is on. So what does this mean?..

Overall, the installer/drivers are very confusing for this item. I hope I can figure it out. Any suggestions? Serve em up please.

UPDATE: I just ran the same installer I used on my old machine and its giving me an error as soon as i login to OSX. It says that the file (gives me the location in the /library/extensions folder) has been improperly installed and to contact the software company to see if there is an updated version of the driver.

OK. If anyone is paying attention to this thread heres the delio. After searching and searching. I came to find that the drivers supplied and easily available on the internet only support OS 10.2 and below.

If anyone is wondering, the GPS contains a usb to serial connection. It plugs in like a USB, but communicates through serial. So what you have to do is install the proper driver.

After searching and searching and searching I finally found a driver that will work w/ OS 10.3-10.4.

PL2303_1.0.9b4 is the ONLY version of the driver that will work. I went through around 6-8 versions before finally coming across this. The most commonly found driver is 1.0.6. This driver will work w/ OSX 10.2. But will not work with 10.3 and above. This is why my driver was loading and recognizing the GPS on my Home computer but not my car/mini.

So just thought I would make the info public. If anyone wants to host this driver, I would be more than happy to send it over.

Im now running the Rikaline in Route 66. Its not bad, but like many have said its not great. I wish the map could fill the whole screen instead of broken down into 3 sections that cannot collapse. The GPS is very accurate though. And there is a nice little directional arrow along w/ a pinpoint utility thats pretty cool. The maps also seem to be very accurate. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to solve the GPS problem on my Mini over the next few weeks.

Do you still have that driver? I have the exact same problem and can't find that driver anywhere on the web...

I'de like to get my grubby hands on all avail driver versions for usb to serial convertor too. My convertor uses the pl2303 (prolific chip) and I am having a few issues with performance using 10.4.2. Btw. this seems to be one of the more common chips around.

btw. I have one version I can share.
