I am also making an iTunes options tab for things such as selecting repeat and random. If you have any other options you would like please make a list and we will see how doable they are(at least doable for me). Also I like kismac but I'm not sure how scriptable it is but Ill give it a shot. Thanks guys.
something I noticed when I was playing around with the frontend was the possible inclusion of album artwork somewhere on the itunes tab. see what y'all can do.

    thanks for all your effort.

Just wanted to say I like yours better that I3 keep up the good work. I like your iTunes player - How hard is it to do the same thing for the DVD player?

    All in time

As of right now we only plan on having the standard dvd buttons such as stop/play, rewind, fast forward, and skip chapters both ways. Any other suggestions?

an option to run it full screen or in a embeded window that displays the dvd playing ... if possible .... just throwing out ideas ....

My first post from my Mac Mini on the Xenarc! I'm running iKarr right now on it. Very nice. You guys keep up the good work!

I'd suggest you go take a look at Frodoplayer or one of the other PC frontends. They've been working out a lot of the features for this stuff for a couple of years.

I think iKarr should be able to be set up as the default DVD player and be able to work with VLC to play video files off of the HD. Some really nice library function would be sweet.

Thanks for iKarr...its looking very nice!

We are looking into ways to set up a DVD player inside of iKarr(i.e. without needing to use DVD player) maybe with quicktime or VLC type player. Right now we are working on a library and searching for iTunes then DVD player features should come next. Anyone who knows more about coding and would like to contribute let us know as my brother and I are learning as we go. Thanks

Dunno if this helps or not, but it'll save you a lot of time if you're planning to write a brute-force iTunes library search - there's a built-in command to search a given playlist, e.g. search current playlist for "blah" only songs.

Thanks for the advice I think we are getting close on the search but need some more time to organize it all. Also if anyone does know some applescript and has any input we would appreciate it. For instance I can't figure out how to make the image and title of the play/pause button change depending on the state of iTunes. Every little bit helps.

Haven't tested this, but I think if you have icons named "play" and "pause" in your resources, you could do something like this:
    tell application "iTunes"
if player state = "playing" then
set icon of buttonName to "pause"
    else
set icon of buttonName to "play"
    end if
    end tell
