how did you change the background? this is something that I have been trying to figure out but couldn't ... don't think I'll be of much help at this point though seeing as my mini is about to go into my car and i won't have a mac to work on ... oh well ... I can always test in a real world situation though haha

Few things. First I dont have a radio shark to test anything with right now and I think my plans are to just use a head unit to control the stereo since no one seems to get very good quality out of the shark. Second if anyone wants to come up with skins great. For some reason the screen shots arent showing up for me so bcohen5055 if you could post them again or a link that would be cool. Simon_c I didnt get a PM from you Ill check with my bro though but if you want the nib to work on I can send it to you. Thanks guys for your input keep it coming.

The .nib file is the file that is opened in interface builder to create the interface. So if you want to change icons and such you would need that. I am not entirely sure but I think you would have to send me the .nib file you edit and any icons or backgrounds that you add

I just grabbed the nib file from the app that i downloaded and changed it there. As far as the buttons on the top like I said before, they are only there temperarily while i finish up the skin. I dont know much about interface builder so I just made a large nsimageview and moved it to the back of the document for the background, then I made a blackish png for it. I realized a problem with the buttons though, I dont have a full version of photoshop and I have been just tweaking and modifing osx theme icons I find on the web for the buttons. Today i checked the readme for the icons I am using and I am braking every ruleit sets. I am converting the images to png, I am modifing the look, I am "distributing" them without concent and am not including the readme. Do you think its alllright to continue with these or should I try something new? Also Simon do you think tou might be able to make icons similar to these? Even if i continue using these I dont have anything for the buttons in itunes,DVD or anything so your services might be helpfull there.

even though it probably isnt a big deal and I would have to read the readme file, if they ask you not to use their buttons for distribution then we probably shouldn't include them with iKarr. You could email the site you got them from and explain the situation. We arent making any money off the project so they might be ok with it. If you are using them for yourself then it should be fine but sending it to others might be the problem. As for the nib file I am not sure that there is any other way besides putting that image in the background but I'm not the most experienced. Feel free to search developer.apple.com (you will need to create an account) or just the web.

Hey guys, I just checked out the app and it's looking better and better. I noted two things that have given me trouble.

    1. If iTunes is closed when the Music Store is selected, you'll get an error upon launching iKarr. I presume the fix is to either set it to a playlist that you are sure exists, like "Library" or to just use a Try block when initializing.

    2. I have 3200+ songs in my library. When I select that playlist it takes nearly a minute to load it. There is probably a better way to load the table view but I don't know what it is. The work around might be to simply load the first 50 songs or so, then when the user scrolls down, add the next 10 to the list.

For skinning, maybe you could tie all of the graphics for the interface and displays to certain file names and include a file that sets the position of the items. It wouldn't be completely ultimate since you couldn't really rearrange the interface but it would go a ways towards customization.

    Good job so far!

Thanks. We'll look into that and see what we can do. I am working on the quicktime player and apparently they dont use nsmoviewview anymore. Now its QTmovieview but I can't figure out the applescript syntax for it. I thought it would be the same or close as with the movie view but It doesnt seem to be working. Bugbtye or anyone else if you have thoughts let me know.

Hey everyone I need some input. My bro is working on and calendar with iCal and I am working on playing movies. Right now I can play a selected quicktime movie and do basic controls. The first questions is what controls would you like. The second issue is that this doesn't seem to be able to play DVD's and I can't find a way to play them other than through another player like DVD Player. I could have a launcher and controller for DVDs also. So I guess I just need to know what people want and any ideas people have on how to do it.
