Been using the unpowered hub since I posted this back in August. I've had no issues except for one, and been sleeping the Mac all that time. The one issue was that the P1900 somehow got "confused" and left the Mini running after car shut off. Dead battery. Had to unplug it and replug it to reset it. That hasn't recurred, but I usually hesitate in the car to make absolutely sure it is shut off.

LOL. that's happened to me a few times, but the macmini shuts off after a few minutes. currently the mac mini is always shutting when the car is off all night.

My mini does hibernating. But it takes more time to wakeup and the TFT display has a problem with the VGA output signal. After wakeup from hibernating, the TFT couldn't sync the screen when the mini is switching from the wakeup screen resolution to the normal working screen resolution. The only way is to switch the display on after the mini has completed the wakeup from hibernating.

The mini hasn't this problem with normal sleep. So my target is it, to get a P1900, which has a "hacked" feature. What I want is, that normaly the mini goes to sleep (for short breaks) and wakes up quickly. But after some hours of sleep (maybe 4 or 8) the power should cutted, so that the mini does hibernating.

That's my goal. And therefore I look for a external pwoered USB hub.

If you would like to get a PIC programmer I will modifiy the deadman timer to 4 hours instead of 72 hours and you can update your firmware.

Exclamation If your still looking for a switchable hub...

Just stumbled on this and thought someone might like to know.

I bought it thinking that I may need to just accept the fact that I couldn't switch the power consumption. After paging through the manual I discovered a nice little switch that lets you select "bus" or "self" power!
