    Unhappy Car trashed, Mac survives

I loved my mac mini install. I had over 10,000 songs in my car. It was amazing. So here is the sad part.
Last night, I was driving through Hollywood (where I live). I got to a red light, with a Toyota pickup truck infront of me. I watched a BMW X5 fly through my rear view and slam right into the back of my car, throwing me into the pickup. Totally F*ed my ride. Me and my girlfriend both got thrown around the car, but had our seatbelts on, so we luckily only have spinal and neck soreness. The kicker through all this is that the mac mini survived it all. When I turned the car on for the tow truck, the system came bumping right back on (in 3 seconds, sleep rules!). The guys at the dealership felt my pain, and were asking all about the install. They think I should move the install to an M3 if this thing is totalled, but then again, they are BMW salesmen
So, with all this behind me, here is what I have decided to do.
Since I am no longer wasting my time enjoying my system, I will now waste my time programming for my next install.
I loved my BMW, and even if my car is totalled, I see another one in my future, so im gonna get programming more ibus integration.
When I killed my car, I was using itunes and TatraApp (testing some new code), so I think I'm going to continue coding for Tatra.
All in all, its been a tough weekend, and I'll post some pics of the damage this week, once my girlfriend gets the pics out of her digicam. As always, you can check out my install in my sig.
    LONG LIVE THE MAC-CAR!

Yes, great story, but sorry to hear that you got hurt:-( It shouldn't take an accident to realize how well your mac lived though it all.

Man that sucks! Glad to hear that you've only got minor injuries.

Dealing with the insurance is going to be a PITA, but hopefully you'll come out okay on it.

Good to hear your Mini survived, too!

thanks for all the well wishes everyone. I think my next mac mini install will be even hotter than this one.

Twisted - the keyboard is a stowaway bluetooth keyboard from a company called "thinkoutside". mine happens to be rebadged with DELL (ah the irony of how well it plays with my mac).

I pulled most of the gear from the pile...including the keyboard. however, the mac and screen stayed with the ride....hopefully the adjusters will include it into their estimate for the value of my car...

now its time to deal with the insurance companies....fun fun.

Good luck with that... My buddy (the guy who originally got me into carputers a couple years back) wrecked his car and got so screwed by insurance. Im sure the circumstances are different though, because you didnt piece your carputer together so much. (GO MAC!)
Just out of curiosity though, wouldn't you rather keep the mac, or at least the HD, so as to save time and trouble of reinstalling everything on it?
Again, good luck with all the BS!
