Adding external wifi antenna to ibook

I am getting a new ibook with built-in wifi and bluetooth for my in-car computing. I want to be able to use either a rooftop antenna or a cantenna at times when I am driving long distance. I can use my cell phone for internet access, but there are times when I would also want to use an antenna.

The problem is that the ibook does not have a card slot, so I can't make a direct connection to the antenna. I am wondering if I can connect the antenna to a powered access point or router inside the car such that the ibook picks up the stronger signal? Would the Apple Airport work for this?

I have done an extensive search on the site, but I can't find anything addressing this connectivity issue.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Thanks, but these don't quite address my problem, though you're idea of drilling a hole in the case to connect directly to the inbook airport card does. I thought of that, too, but I don't want to void my warranty.

Some kind of access point/repeater/router is what I think I need. It will be connected to the external antenna and reradiate the signal to the ibook inside the car, just like a GPS reradiating antenna works.

QuickterTek has some antenna that can be install in PowerBook.
You have to plug it inside the PowerBook and let the wire go out through the PC card slot.

For the iBook, they have the antenna:

I did not check how to install it in the iBook.

They also have the 27 dBm transceiver.
An Airport base station has about 30 mw of power,
the QuickerTek transceiver has around 500 mw.

I contacted Quickertek about their ibook transceiver. They are coming out soon with a new model that works with the built-in wireless of the new ibooks. An external antenna can also be attached. This will solve my problem.
