I just re-downloaded it and tried the copy button.
It is easier than I though.

Very nice of you to ask me what I need in a on-screen keyboard.
I understand that because it is an applescript, I can't get live update of what I am typing like with Apple on-screen keyboard or virtual keyboard. Like I said, I have tried the copy button with some applications and it is working but for some reason, It does not work with iTunes. ITunes is one of the reason I want an On-screen keyboard.

Now, since I tried it tonight, there is one thing that make me very, very happy with your keyboard.

I REALLY like the fact that it stays on top, even when FrontRow is active.
It would be very nice to have a version for FrontRow with the 4 Arrows, Enter, Escape and Volume. If you add an option to see the rating and to change it, then you make my dream come true. Too bad Apple does not allow in FrontRow to press a letter to go faster in a list like in the rest of the system.

I use FrontRow a lot, mostly with PowerMate, but when I have passenger, on-screen command would be a lot easier for them to use compare to Press-and turn right etc.

When are we going to see your front-end.

Thank you again to take such good care to your non paying customer.

Since Benjamin from CCAR disappear, I was afraid for the future of Front-End on Macintosh but you give me hope.

    Thank you

    Franco

Everything is on hold for a couple of weeks as I move into my new house. 2 hour commute this morning...haha. Luckily it wasn't the normal commute. So give me a month or so to get a good working frontend (don't hold me to it if i'm late though).

I'll think about your front row idea. However, I think it is something entirely different than the keyboard I created. It would be like an on screen remote control for front row right? I think this idea could be something other people are interested in. Please post a new thread about it and I'll gauge the level of interest from other people before starting.

Ok, I will create a post for Front Row, At the same time, we will how many people use Front Row.

I have tried your keyboard, in my car this morning. It is working and it is staying there. I look into MainMenu.nib and I guess there is no simple way to make it resizable.

Why not try to develop a front end with your keyboard always tabbed below as a "drawer" "always on top" or accessible - I mean this like when someone has a textbox they're going to type something in or rename whatnot have them touch the box, click on the OSK - it pulls up animated, type away - click enter, OSK goes back down animated and have it be? I'll try to whip up some crazy drawing, brb.

Now this has got to be the quickest and most painful rendering of any image i've ever created, fortunately - with everyone else' ideas we can fill it in the blank spaces, right?

I created a post for this. and i'm on the same page with twhat you're wanting to do. please help me get people involved. i think this is an easy solution for a temporary but satisfactory solution for what is currently offered for mac/carputers.

I just ordered a new mac with frontrow and the ir port. i know i'll be able to control it via the remote but i really don't want to waste my new touchscreen either

I'm getting back into the mac car stuff in a bit. I finally moved in to the new house and got a lot of stuff accomplished (house wise). Now, i'm trying to trade the psp for a ts...and if that works I'll have a good dev platform.

So, If you want/need refinements to this piece of software let me know. I'm already thinking about making special tie ins to programs that don't work with the osk...especially itunes.

thanks this is pretty handy free keyboard. for some reason the return/enter doesn't work after i click copy; the text gets copied but i have to click on reload in a browser to get it to take. not a big deal i guess.

Hmm, what about reading some documentation? You can *easily* make an on-screen keyboard, that generates the key events exactly the same way as the real one.

Have a look at the attachment - example of very simple input manager. Right now, all it can do is to type letter "A" (into *any* selected text input field or text area and directly). However, it demonstrates the basic principle and the rest should be a piece of cake for anyone with basic Cocoa overview.

Note that to get this working, you not only have to build the project and place it in ~/Library/InputManagers/OSK/, but you will also need to place the (attached) Info file into the same folder as well.

Of course this only works in Cocoa apps...
