Thread: FrontRow Remote

This version is the best yet and I think final....except I ran into a problem. When I get out of Front Row and back to the desktop, the FR Remote program is still running and covers the entire screen (including toolbar and dock). I have not found a way to get out of the program. I can move my mouse under the screen, but I don't have a keyboard hooked up so I can't Open-Apple Q.

I'm going to work on that tonight and tomorrow - I'm thinking a Dashboard-style (but larger) X button in the lower-right corner. It shouldn't be a problem to have that both close Front Row and then quit the app itself.

Edit - also, new version. Removed one probably-unnecessary bit of code from the click handler that might've been causing some of the nastiness, though I'm really not sure - to handle the scrollingness I have to call some kinda low-level functions, the same ones a keyboard driver would, so a conflict there might be the source of the crashing.

So when you are watching a movie would it be in the middle of the screen like that too? Any shots of that?

Instead of gving another button have press and hold on the menu button exit front frow row then quit the program. just an idea. as of now the button does nothing when pressed and held. i really love this.

Maybe I missed it, but why would it not be advantagous to have the control time out and either disappear completly or fade to nearly nothing and then reappear when you touch the screen. It's not really a problem when you are listening to music, but when you are trying to view pictures or watch a movie I could see where it would get kind of annoying.

How about providing the source, or better yet the complete Xcode project?

It does.

ok i figured out what's going on.

the controls do fade out, but only if you use them. in other words, if you click or touch the screen the controls appear and will stay there until one of the buttons are touched. if the buttons are not touched then they will not dissapear

O...ok cool. I haven't been able to test it yet as my screen is apart right now because I am rebuilding the bezel. Sorry I guess I should have tried it out first.

Is there anyway to incude an "If/then" statement right when the controls are brought up. If the controls aren't touched again, after the initial touch, in 2.5sec(or whatever)/then they will revert back to their invisible state.

As it stands right now if i bump the screen or something then i have to make a selection before the controls will ddissapear again.

Got another question: Can you make another program that mimics the style of front row but that would carry four(or more) different programs. Have it launch and close the same way and spin the icons and the other things. if so i have another idea on how we can extend front row to cover every aspect of a carputer that we need, with room to grow indefinately.
