I'm not a programmer, but seems that this code:

    apple event code 0x48786d72

causes a warning. thus the HXM doesn't like that specific code and is rejecting it and giving you a null.

So while it's not a scripting error, HXM doesn't like "that" particular code.

could you plug in something else there and see if you still get a null result?

Like I said, I'm not a programmer, just trying to think logically about what was in the console log

Who is Mitch and what is his Sirius interface?

Probably not for now. I don't subscribe to Sirius and I don't have Sirius hardware. Unless someone has something that can plug and play, I wouldn't have any way to test it out.

    Update #3 -3/15/05

Good news! Another forum member has stepped up and offered to help with graphics and user interface functionality. This should be a great boost to the app in terms of appearance and functionality.

Nothing extra needs to be installed. The binary of the gpsd server is included in the download; you don't even have to move it to any special location of your HD. It works out out of the box.

    Update #4: 3/15/2006

Our graphics contributor has already proposed some nice ideas for how to clean up this interface and make it truly touch screen friendly. It's going to require us to upgrade the code that sets up each tab as you select it. We're going to have to deal with things like whether the buttons are transparent, enabled, where they are located, what size they are, etc. Standard stuff that will help us put a nice skin on it.

By the way, does anyone know if it is possible to embed a running application into a window in an Applescript application? It would be nice if something like Google Earth could be embedded in a window in Harmony.

Not really. You can do things like that under some very special circumstances with a bundle that resides within the application (you can "smuggle" it there as input manager for example) and acts as a "bridge" or provider of data to other applications. Unfortunately it is not the case of GE, which appears to be some sort of C or C++ <censored> and not a "proper" (== Cocoa) Mac OS X application.

Another approach would be to create your own alternate client for GE service, but since the protocols, formats and APIs are private, I do not think this is worth the effort (and it would probably only work until first update anyway).

Have you looked at the NASA's World Wind project? That is open source and it should be relatively easy (especially when compared to GE) to integrate it into your own software. http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/index.html

Would that work for us Mac users if these are the requirements of World Wind?

    System Requirements

    Windows 2000, or XP
Intel Pentium 3, 1 GHz, or AMD Athlon or higher
    256 MB of RAM
    3D Graphics Card
See video card compatibility list at http://www.worldwindcentral.com/wiki..._Compatibility
DSL / Cable connection or faster
    2 GB of disk space

Worldwind doesn't display roadmaps so it's not particularly useful for a driver. And it's Windows-only, so it's irrelevant to Mac users.
