    New setup question

    Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and the whole car computer scene, but I'm extremely interested in installing my powerbook G4 into my new nissan altima.

Here's the setup that I'm thinking of:

I would like to install the powerbook in my trunk along with a 350W power inverter that I already purchased. I have a cigeratte lighter adapter in the trunk so hooking up the power shouldn't be a problem. I know that I wont be able to get the full 350W out of a cla, but the max 140W should be fine for what I'm doing. I'd also like to put a remote therm. transmiter in the trunk that transmits to a reciever in the front of my car so i can keep an eye on temps back there.

After that, id like to run a usb extension cable, the audio cable, vga cable, and power extension cable (im not sure if this is going to be necessary yet) underneath the back seat of my car and back floor mat to the front of my car.

In the front of my car, id like to have the power, usb, VGA cables from the trunk go into the center console and power a usb hub as well as a Lilliput 7" VGA Touchscreen 619GL-70NP which would be attach to a gooseneck mounting bracket. The usb hub could be used to plug a small keyboard or mouse into or a GPS receiver (once i have enough money). In terms of audio, i think i might just run it into a monster AM/FM transmitter that i already have hooked up to my front cigeratte lighter adapter. (it works fine).

I'd just like to get some input from you guys on this setup before i proceed any farther. I know its a long post, but i would really appreciate any input possible.

    Thanks!
    Car: 2002 Nissan Altima
    Computer: Powerbook G4 12"

Basic setup sounds just fine. How will you power it on and off?

Also, does the Powerbook have an internal temperature monitor? Try running Temperature Monitor on it and see if it does. You may not need to add one.

Assuming it's relatively recent (e.g. 2004 onwards), any Powerbook will have at least four or five temperature sensors, possibly more.

Sounds alright. Powerbook G4 only uses 55-65w of power.

With this setup, you're going to have a lot of cables running back and forth.

Come on... AM/FM transmitter for audio? That's going to sound bad.

Ooh...I missed that somehow. Run the audio straight into the HU or amp it to the speakers. If you can't afford to do that immediately, put it at the very top of your post-install items.
