elo drivers

so i just finished installing everything only to find out that my macmini does not agree with the elo monitor i have.

i am using a 14 ELO touchscreen, and upon bootup of the mac, it will show the apple in the middle of the screen, but when it actually begins to bootup it doesnt have the drivers for the screen and quits comunicating. does anyone have any drivers or solutions for this.

we know the mac is good cause right after that we tested it with a regular monitor and it worked great, and the screen is good cause i hooked it up to my laptop as well.

any help would be great.

Sounds like the resolution or refresh rate that the Mini is currently set to don't work with the monitor. Hook it back up to your other monitor and set it to 640x480 and a "normal" refresh rate. Then try again. Once you can see the finder, then you can start playing with higher resolutions and refresh rates (it will revert back if you don't accept a change (i.e. it goes black).

OSX doesn't have drivers for monitors (neither do PCs, those drivers are for the graphics cards). That you see the Apple logo says that the Mini can use it fine, you just need to find settings that the two agree on.

i will try lowering the resolution, and adjusting the refresh rate, but that still doesnt help at all with touchscreen drivers.

anyone with an ELO intellitouch driver for OSX 10.4?

I think if you boot the mac in safe mode (hold down shift at startup) it will stay in the same resolution used on the opening splash (apple) screen. You can then get in to your display settings after it boots and see what works.

Man, a 14" touchscreen, thats awesome

That may be trickier. You can try the egalax drivers that the the Xenarc and Lilli on the off chance that is what they use too.

Otherwise you'll need to find out who makes the controller that they use and then see if that company has a driver.

its mounted right in the dash.
its an older audi, and had a huge center console filled with tons of useless stuff.

still having a hard time finding any sort of touch screen driver.

considering just emulating windows on the mac, would solve the touch screen part, and let me use my GPS
anyone have any advice on the emulation?

Folks,

There now is, in fact, a driver for PowerPC based OS X Macs on Elo's website!
Soon there will be an Intel OS X version.

I have tested it extensively, and found it to be as reliable as one might expect from Elo. There are no better touch screens! Get an Elo!

I might suggest that one consider an Accutouch version. There are several technolgies that Elo uses, and the type that most people would probably be comfortable with would be the Accutouch. It will respond to a fingernail, small stylus, credit card etc. The Intellitouch type is better for screens with large buttons, a small tipped stylus or credit card etc. will not work. That will make it a little hard to use for smaller on-screen gadget like scrollers or small buttons.
