    Question Mac mini teething issues

    Hi Guys
Ok ive finally installed my system but have come across a few problems along the way and im wondering if any of you have any fixes/ideas for these.

1)cant get the k301 http://www.cartft.com/catalog/il/506 to work as a touch screen with my Mac mini (intel) the software is there but doesnt appear to do anything! works fine under bloody windowz

2)i would like to use front row with the remote however the Mac is in the boot! is there any way i could get an infrared extender wire or something to send a signal,

3)i guess i could ignore no 2 if i had a good front end to run any recommendations? i need vids mp3's and i would love a navigation system to run using UK maps, and im not a programmer i just want it to do the basics without asking me to create my own code.

4)im trying to use the digital input to run the sound for my Nintendo, the only way i can get it to work is through Garageband, is there another way?

I think that will do for now!
any help would be greatly appreciated

You can hope that it is using the EGalax (search for it in this forum or in the LCD forum) and download the latest drivers from their site. It is likely that the drivers that you have are for the PPC based Macs vs the Intel, which won't work.

If it's not an EGalax TS, you'll have to find out whos it is and see if they have an Intel driver.

I have considered doing that, but never gotten around to it. My thought was to get an iPod dock to sacrifice. Then make a Y connecter to splice it into the existing IR sensor (i.e. so it is easily removable while leaving the Mini fully functional).

AMP is the most popular right now, but Jirka has his TatraApp which is probably the oldest. There are also a couple others in progress too. The threads on the various frontends are the most active ones in this forum.

and i would love a navigation system to run using UK maps, and im not a programmer i just want it to do the basics without asking me to create my own code.
For Carputer purposes, Nav just doesn't exist for Mac at this time.

Anything that will allow you to use the audio input (i.e. a Mic) *should* do what you want.

Griffin iMic and an app called LineIn will run sound from the mic input to the speakers.

should take care of the remote side of things...

if not those, then you can use a Griffin Powermate, or a Logitech NuLooq and program their various movements to send keystrokes that work with frontrow. I can detail my setup for you if you're interested in that route.

    Try this

It uses RF signals, so it works through walls, long distances, etc. It's specially designed to work with Front Row right out of the box, with zero setup. I'm not sure if it works with AMP or not, but absolutely with Front Row.

I agree, the Apple Remote is much better looking, and easier to use, but I didn't feel as bad taking apart the keyspan remote to paint it as I would have with the Apple Remote :-)

I painted it a dark metallic gray. I can't think of the brand/name of paint off the top of my head...I'll check tonight....
