Depth of Mini w/ DVI to VGA Adapter

Does anyone knows the depth of a Mini with the DVI to VGA adapter on it?

I haven't purchased a Mini yet but I would like to know how much depth one requires.

Off the top of my head, no. But rough numbers would be add about 3 inchs to be safe. If you are using the adapter that comes with the Mini, then you need to add the length of your VGA plug too. I use an extra I had from one of my PowerBooks (there is a cable between the DVI and VGA plugs rather than a single unit) so I can get it in a tighter space.

I think they also make right angled ones (stiff, not with the cable inbetween) too. So you have many options other than the standard straight in/out plug.

Ok, so if anyone is using one of these setups can you measure it and let me know what you're using and how deep it is?

I believe I needed 6cm to make the turn, but that was really tight.

I ended up soldering my own to make it as close as I could. If I had it to do over, I'd go with a right angle adaptor.

I saw your install post earlier today but I didn't see mention of how deep it makes the Mini.

I did however run across this today; Now if I can only find one with VGA on the other end.

Can anyone tell if this is a right angle adapter that would work or is this parts lying next to one another?

I am pretty sure they are connected. Looks like a hinge on the back. Looks like what you need.

Only problem is you'll need to order like 1000 of them.

Great, so I'll take a couple anyone else need one? I only have to find a home for 998 of them. :-)

I'll see if they'll tell me who their customer is so I can purchase one from their buyer.
