    Power Button...?

Has anyone come up with a way for moving the button from the back of the unit with a length of cable to be able to power up or off if need be without the need to get to the back of the machine...???

If so what is the easiest way to do this....???

I hacked the power button using the Carnetix wiring harness. It's a 'Y' harness that keeps the power button intact and gives you two wires for the P1900 to wake up the system. I soldered into the harness to provide two outputs on the back of the Mini that contact the docking mechanism so I didn't have to connect/disconnect the harness when installing or removing it in the car.

A simple SPST switch (probably momentary contact) would have been very easy to add at that point. You can see the details in my worklog (linked in my signature)

you can buy the power button for G5s online for like 9bucks.
however i am looking for one that has that cool fadeing LED behind it. that would look sick on a dash.
Cant code cause I dont know how, but give me the paint bucket and my eraser and have at you!

    Wink DIY - Power Button

I have also been trolling the net for a lighted power button, to no avail
So when you can't get it done, DIY!

I went and took a broken Ibook I had lying around
(I used other parts for the carputer) And cut a slit in the plastic
about 1/4" wide, took a Blue LED and sanded it down so it was flat
on top and bottom, glued the led to the peice used Liquid Electrical tape
(great stuff) to black out and insulate the gaps, and WALA!

NOW to figure out HOW to mount it on the dash!!!

Arg bugbyte where were you 2 days ago when I ordered a button for myself!!! I looked for a while for a button like that. Now I guess I'll have to order one of those.

I'm guessing the ring's leds are controlled completely indpendantly from the button so you could attach a fader circuit onto it, and all those othe goodies.

    I like.
