    Exclamation Split: MapMonkey closes itself

    Hi,

I'm having a similar problem to what Prefect described here -

It seems to have something to do with the GPS signal; If I set the GPS port to a unused com-port, MapMonkey stays on the screen without crashing. But as soon as I set the correct GPS port and go into navigation mode (without touching anything else), MapMonkey closes itself after some time. As long as MapMonkey stays open, the position is reported correctly.

EDIT: Found the new DLL! No Crash till now... So please focus on this: :-)

I have read through numerous threads and have tried what has been suggested in them
    - un-installed Map Monkey
    - deleted all files and folders in C:\Destinator Apps
    - downloaded and installed Map Monkey Installer v1.1.344 (to the default locations)
    - downloaded Map Monkey Hotfix v1.1.348 (unzipped / installed to the default locations)
    - installedthe .dll and Australian Maps

But I am still having the same problem - if the GPS is unplugged or I have Map Monkey looking for data from an un-used COM port, Map Monkey is fine.

When Map Monkey has real data it closes after a random amount of time, usually less than 1 minute. It's driving me mad!

    Can anybody help me out??

    Thanks,
    Panda

Have you tried FreeDrive, it's based on the same destinator engine that MapMonkey is and was still being developed after development on MapMonkey had finished?

I have had a look into it today but couldn't find the download link. I have signed up to the forum and activated my membership but still nothing.

Is it hard to find or am I just an idiot?

Once you are signed up it should be in the downloads section.

There is a list of popular downloads, you need to download these two

    Freedrive 1.0 preview
    12th April 06 update.

the first is an installer and the second should just be an updated exe.

Alright, I've found it now - thanks for the help.

Obviously I have answered my own question - I am an idiot.
