how do I alter the voice nav volume

just had a quick look round and it seems the answer is to use 2 soundcards, is this still the case with the latest version?

Voice navigation at 150dB is fair loud, scared the living s**t out of me.

    Cheers
if you can't find time to do it right, when are you gonna find time to do it over.

I usually have winamp playing at about 65%, causing Destinator to SCREAM directions at me through my car's audio set up!
    Refer to my post:-

How can I Adjust D3/MP3 volume

I used a figure of 28% on the UK Speech files and achieved highly satisfactory results.

Sorry Guys The strain of waiting for NM's BETA3 must have got to me
I used MP3Gain to equalise my mp3 collection ONLY....
I used Sound Editor from Roxio Easy CD Creator to reduce the voice pack WAV files volume & YES I didn't dream this, the magic figure was 28% of the original WAV volume on the slide control of this program.
Please don't lynch me....I'll make it up to you in future posts...promise !

So wait, how about a feature to lower the volume just before giving speech instructions and then set it back afterwards?

The only problem there is that the WAV files vary in length.

In the same vane, but the other way round. I've been experimenting with the winamp audio mute settings in DestinatorConfig and have found that by setting the volume to 50% and duration to 4secs, along with the reduced volume speech files and a 50% main volume setting in Mediacar, I can hear the directions clearly without loosing the jist (for want of a better word) of the mp3 playing in the background.
Hope I've explained myself there !

had opportunity to use satnav for real last night on my way to sheffield, damn that is a good bit of software.

had to fiddle with the audio again as I forgot about the directions being blasted, this is what I found

From the soundcard properties I had the master volume on full and the Wav volume on about 30%

I went into winamp and turned the volume up full.

I went into destinator config and turned off anynthing to do with it adjusting the volume.

This way I could listen to my music at a volume I wanted and have the satnav voice over it, if i wanted the satnav louder I adjusted the WAV volume from soundcard properties and adjusted the master volume and winamp volume to get the audio right.

Whilst this is a solution I would have preferred to have the WAV and Master volume on full, this way I am maximising the output of the card, then to have the applications control how much of that volume I wanted to hear, ie winamp controls the music and destinator controls the directions volume.

Is this already possible and i'm just doing something wrong?

Cheers for the replies byt the way

    Call Me stupid,...

But is it that difficult to include a volume control button in D3 to just alter the volume of the navigation Voice. so that I can mute or blast my ears out whenever I want.
