Can someone post a new link? I think that server is dead.
I have another problem... With launcher that bar (with minimize, maximize and close button appears) on top of map monkey, right under MC close/exit bar.. Also when I click exit in MC instead of close I get to the main menu and when I click on GPS again map monkey won't appear.. With alt-tab it is ok, so it is just in the back!! Is there any solution??![]()
so far we havent found a solution that i kno of... i have the same problem
Debating on installing a carpc in my Jeep.....
Will there be a skinnable version of mapmonkeylauncher? wouldn't that be perfect ey?
I can't see any posted screenshots of problems with running MM embedded in Mediacar, but I've read similar problems to what I experience here:
After installing the MapMonkeyLauncher.exe with the correct .conf file (like shown on page 4 of this thread), Mapmonkey start perfectly embedded, leaving the blue date/time bar of Mediacar visible.
Now, when I click on the 'close' button on this bar, and then start MapMonkey again, MM is not embedded correctly anymore!!
Between the top bar of Mediacar and the infobar of MM, a Small window title bar is visible showing 'Destinator'. The buttonbar (menu .....view) is pushed downwards and is now unusable.
I've not sorted it out completly yet, but what I did found out is that it has something to do with resaving the mml.conf file (!!)
Try this:
- Resave your mml.conf file (and leave it open in notepad on the background)
- Start Mediacar
- Press the GPS-button (which should launch mapmonkeylauncher.exe)
- MM is embedded correctly
- Press the 'close' button to close MM and return to mediacar main screen
- Switch to notepad, and press CTRL-S to resave the mml.conf file
- Switch to Mediacar and press the 'GPS' button once again.
- Now MM starts up correctly embedded again !!
Strange eh? Only difference is resaving the mml.conf file
Any ideas? Ninja?
BTW: I started using the MMlauncher when I was trying to embed MM using the advanced GPS mode. Before, I didn't use the advanced GPS mode and hadn't any problems embedding MM (didn't have to use mmlauncher)..
Okay, I worked on a (temporary) solution.
1) Create a copy of your mml.conf file (in the MM dir) and name it 'refresh_mml.conf'
2) Create a .bat file in your MM directory called 'refresh_mmlconf.bat' with the following two lines:
del /Q mml*.conf
copy refresh_mml.conf mml.conf
notes: the /Q and * are needed to delete the file without user interaction
3) Create a .bat file in the Mediacar directory, called 'startmediacar.bat' with the following three lines:
C:\PROGRA~1\MediaCar\MEDIACAR.exe
CD C:\DestinatorApps\MAPMON~1\
refresh_mmlconf.bat
4) From now, start your Mediacar app using this bat file (or use a shortcut and let the bat file run minimised)
Whenever you experience the title bar thing, press 'close' and 'exit' mediacar. This will refresh the mml.conf automatically.
Normally, I just start MM once during a drive and switch to my MP3 list using the button with the red circle (ofcourse!) and have no troubles at all.
I tried to use such a bat file construction on mapmonkey.exe, but this wouldn't work. (shame, cause then the whole problem would never occur anymore)
It could be neccesary to put a shortcut to the refresh_mmlconf.bat file in the startup folder of the start menu for when your system reboots, I have to check this.
Another tip:
I found a small DOS util called 'taskkill' some where on the Net.
With this you are able to clean running processes. Why is this handy?
F.e. when you "close" MM with the red circle icon on the top right, and in the mediacar you choose to exit to windows, There is still a "MapMonkey.exe" process running in the back! When you restart mediacar again and MM, you get troubles, very annoying.. So when you have taskkill you could add the following line to the startmediacar.bat file:
taskkill /F /IM MapMonkey.exe
Make sure it's the last line! Cause when the process cannot be found, the bat file terminates and no more commands are executed from the bat file.
(don't know where i got taskkill, maybe it was a standard thing in windows 2k server?)
Ninja, still having troubles, especially after rebooting..
Can you change your mapmonkeylauncher to ONLY write a new mml.conf when it doesn't yet exist?
the launcher keeps overwriting the correct mml.conf with incorrect values!
It's still a nasty problem, this embedding..
_wd, I have the same problem, and after regenerating mml.conf, I just made it read-only.
It will give you an error message, but the embedding will keep its position
