so you did humour me then? ;)

Yes, damn you !
have you gone back to MapMonkey at all ;)
I'd be using mapmonkey if it wouldnt give me the errors it is. FreeDrive is alright but i don't like it as much as map monkey to be honest with you. I just find the interface a bit clunky and between skins the options change. Having said that i've been allowed to utilise the source code of FreeDrive to help with its improvement.
So what DLL am I looking for. I have thins installed on my laptop for testing and there it works great no problems. I can use any map that I have. On my new PC that is in the car, I can't get this to work for beans. Mind you I can't find the original files I installed with.
Okay, so let me get this straight:
MapMonkey is no longer supported at all by PowerLOC? The only way from now on to ever get this to run is by using old versions of the software that you can't find any more?
I seriously wish I would have read further before giving those bastards my $50.
I've had my car computer out for the better part of the year while I've been working on some other two-wheeled projects and now that it's winter I decided to put the carputer back in. Everything's gone fine until I got to the GPS software part. Did some reading on the forum and looks like MapMonkey is the way to go. Instructions say you need SDK and maps. Already have my maps (they're a year old, but should work, right?). Paid the $50 for the SDK. Got the files. Thought to myself, "What are these for, anyway?" seeing hows they're the same files that MapMonkey installs anyway. Was about to then email PowerLOC to get the working DLL when I started reading further into this thread. Now I'm ****ed. I've got a $50 SDK that does nothing, a North American Maps and software upgrade pack that I bought about a year ago for $200. Nothing works. Same problems everyone else is having. Doesn't recognize the old map formats and says I need to register them anyway, and the big ugly red message across the screen. I found an old DLL and tried to copy it over, but then MapMonkey just tossed up tons of errors.
Oh yeah, and my v3.0.75 upgrade CD that I bought is now worthless because there's no trial software to download and upgrade from.
So on someone above's advice I gave Freedrive a try. It's alright, but I'm not as fond of the relative difficulty in getting to features and I LOVED that MM had audio controls.
So am I just stuck with Freedrive? Sorry if this is stuff that's been beat to death, but, like I said, I've been out of the loop for a while.
Never Mind. I took care of it...

Is there any easier way to use map monkey with d3? Right now i just installed Free Drive, and it must have installed the "good" DestDLL.dll which now allows me to use map monkey, but free drive is taking up valuable hard drive space, is there somewhere i can download the dll instead of having free drive installed?
make a copy of the working dll. then next time you install map monkey on a PC, copy that DLL over the one installed by MM.
